Today in New England, under an industrial food system, our region generates only about 12% of the food we eat. According to The New England Food Vision, by 2060, when today’s children are raising families of their own, we can increase that to about 50%.

Weaving together resources to forge a robust food and farming system, Berkshire Agricultural Ventures lays the groundwork for a thriving local food economy that will make fresh, healthy food available to all.

We invest in safeguarding working farms, help food makers who add value, and assist food entrepreneurs who are striving to create and expand into new and emerging markets.

Our investment in agriculture also allows the safekeeping of a fertile and scenic landscape, a critical asset of the Berkshires and surrounding regions.

Growing our Region’s Food Economy

Berkshire Agricultural Ventures provides nimble financing and technical assistance for marketing and business development to food and farming entrepreneurs and local businesses to help them thrive in today’s challenging economic landscape.

Berkshire Agricultural Ventures is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the growth of food entrepreneurs in the Berkshires and beyond. Building upon our strong, regional partnerships, we aim to support farm and food businesses in our target area of the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, the neighboring Hudson Valley in New York State, northwest Connecticut and other surrounding areas. With its unique geography of the Berkshires and Taconic Range of the Appalachian Mountains, this region functions as a multi-state foodshed.
