BAV’s Board of Directors brings a wide range of experiences and skillsets that support every aspect of our organization. We appreciate their time, insight, and dedication.

  • Maryann Tebben

    President

    A professor of French at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and head of the Center for Food Studies at Simon’s Rock, Maryann is the author of several books, including Food Cultures of France (2021), Savoir-Faire: A History of French Food (2020), and Sauces: A Global History (2014).

  • Erik Rasmussen

    Vice President

    Erik is the former Market Administrator for the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service/Dairy Programs.

  • Dan Schaeffer

    Treasurer

    Dan is the executive director at ABS Capital Markets at Academy Securities, as well as the former Chief Investment Officer and co-founder at EvoQue Investments Inc.

  • Don Perdue

    Secretary

    Dan is a nationally honored photographer whose work is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, and International Center for Photography. He is an avid gardener & farmers market shopper.

  • Rebecca Busansky

    ex officio

    Rebecca is BAV’s Executive Director. She was formerly a Program Director at the Franklin County Community Development Corporation, where her work focused on helping local farms thrive and on increasing food access. She worked as part of the team to create and launch the PVGrows Investment Fund.

  • David Valicenti

    Director

    An attorney at Cohen Kinne Valicenti Cook specializing in business and real estate, David is an avid supporter of local food.

  • Tom Gardner

    Director

    Tom is the principal owner of Gardner Pie Company. He managed a small farm raising Soay Sheep, Italian Maremma Guard Dogs, and Australian Shepherds.

  • Amanda Freund

    Director

    Amanda is the owner of Freund’s Farm in East Canaan, CT, and is involved in the family businesses of Freund’s Farm Market and CowPots.

  • Rachel Moriarty

    Director

    Rachel holds a B.S. in Sustainable Food & Farming from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

  • Martha Page

    Director

    Martha is the former Executive Director of Hartford Food System Inc. She brings multi-disciplinary management experience in nonprofit, government, and private sector settings.

  • Glenn Bergman

    Director

    Glenn is a food industry leader and former executive director of Philabundance, a $55 million nonprofit food bank in Philadelphia. He previously served as interim executive director of BAV.

  • Meg Bantle

    Director

    Meg is a sixth-generation farmer and the co-founder of Full Well Farm in Adams, MA, a queer- and woman-owned no-till vegetable and cut flower farm. She brings a commitment to food justice and local food access.

  • Mimi Beaven

    Director

    A co-founder of the former Little Ghent Farm/Made in Ghent, Mimi brings a farming background and a love of the natural world, food, and community, as well as their intersections. She is an active volunteer with area nonprofits and schools.
